Sarah holds a PhD in bioinorganic chemistry from the University of Queensland as well as a Master of Industrial Property from the University of Technology Sydney.
Sarah has eleven years of experience at the Australian Patents Office where she specialised in patent hearings and oppositions. As a Hearing Officer, Sarah issued numerous decisions across various technologies, including oppositions to grant, amendments, examiner rejections, extensions of time, extensions of term for pharmaceutical patents and entitlement. Consequently, Sarah has unique knowledge and understanding of current Australian examination practice and procedure.
Sarah was also a Supervising Examiner of the examination section at the Australian Patent Office which deals with pharmaceutical inventions, hence she has a keen interest in the specific challenges presented in chemical and pharmaceutical technologies.
