Tony is a registered Australian and New Zealand patent attorney and Principal. He has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications internationally, conducting opposition proceedings and performing patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement and patent landscape analyses.
Tony has acted for a number of international and Australian clients, including biotech companies, multi-national pharmaceutical companies, research institutes and universities. Tony assists his clients with managing their intellectual property portfolios and advises on patent strategies focusing on commercially important jurisdictions. Throughout his career, he has represented clients in a broad range of areas, including therapeutic and diagnostic antibodies, cancer immunotherapies, gene editing, genetics and genomic selection, RNA interference, vaccines, transgenic plants and animals, and food technology.
Tony graduated from La Trobe University with a BSc (Hons) majoring in genetics and completed a PhD in molecular biology and immunology at RMIT University and the CSIRO Australian Animal Health Laboratory. Tony undertook postdoctoral research at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research investigating enzymes as targets for drug discovery and has published several scientific articles in peer reviewed international journals.
